Klezmer comes to the Olympics

Aly Raisman famously leapt, twisted and cartwheeled to gold to the strains of Hava Nagila for her floor routine in the London Olympics four years ago.

The choice of music might not have been such a surprise for an American-Jewish gymnast (who picked up another gold in the women's team event this week).

But what do you make of Japanese competitor Sae Miyakawa (above) who performed in Tuesday's final to a klezmer version of Kol Haolam Kulo.

The Hebrew folk song, composed by the Chasidic master Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav more than 200 years ago, speaks of the world as a "narrow bridge".

More appropriate to the beam routine, you might think.
