articlemain

Author Jodi Picoult’s most recent book -- Small Great Things – is on its way to the big screen thanks to Girl on the Train and La La Land producer Marc Platt.

Viola Davis and Julia Roberts are set to star in the drama about a black nurse who finds herself caring for the new-born baby of white supremacists.

Talking about the book to the JC at the end of last year, Ms. Picoult said “I wanted to write from the point of view of several characters - a black nurse, a skinhead father and a defence lawyer, a woman who, like me, and like many of my readers, was a well-intentioned white lady who would never consider herself to be a racist.”

The film is currently listed as ‘in development’ on industry website IMDB and has no firm release date.
