Hit sitcom Roseanne to return for one-off series

Concerning a potential reunion, Ms Barr tweeted: “of course I want to do a reboot of Roseanne-new political reality in our country will make for some great jokes!”

Roseanne, the hit 1990s sitcom lauded for its portrayal of a working class American family, will return for a new series.

Star cast members Roseanne Barr, John Goodman and Sara Gilbert have already committed to the reboot, according to entertainment website Deadline.

TV producers will look to find a channel or online streaming platform for the new series of the show, which debuted in 1988 and ran for nine seasons.

Concerning a potential reunion, Ms Barr tweeted on April 29th: “Of course I want to do a reboot of Roseanne - new political reality in our country will make for some great jokes!”

The actor and comedian is well-known for tweeting pro-Israel messages, and for standing up to antisemitism on social media.

In November she tweeted: “#AntiSemitism comes in degrees & as u begin2 recognize it, ur brain's abilities will grow larger & bc more integrated It's everywhere u look”

Roseanne, which follows the Conner family from the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois, is notable for launching the career of Mr Goodman, who went on to star in a run of Coen brothers films, including Barton Fink, the Big Lebowski and O Brother, Where Art Thou?
