Bob Dylan has finally picked up his Nobel Prize for literature - six months after he was awarded it

The star attended a private ceremony in Stockholm on Sunday, where he was handed the prize.

Mr Dylan became the first songwriter to win the Nobel for literature in October 2016, but initially declined to reply to the announcement and failed to attend December’s award ceremony.

He was finally handed the medal at what was described as an small and intimate ceremony attended by 12 academy members. The 75-year-old musician fitted the ceremony in between two concerts he was playing in Sweden.

He will now have to deliver the traditional Nobel lecture by June 10 in order to receive the eight million kronor (around £716,000) grant which comes with the prize.
