Billy Joel’s new baby has arrived ahead of time.

The 68-year-old singer said last week that he and his wife were expecting their second daughter “next month”.

But yesterday, on Twitter, he announced the birth of Remy Anne in New York. She was born on Sunday and weighs a healthy 7lb 3 oz.

Mother and daughter were doing well and “everyone is thrilled”, his website said.

The couple have a two-year old daughter, Della, while Joel also has an older child Alexa-Ray, who is also a singer, from a previous marriage to Christie Brinkley.
