As they disembarked from their 11-hour flight to Sri Lanka last week, Joshua Gladstein, 24, and Sophie Nathan, 23, expected long immigration queues and lengthy waits at baggage reclaim. Instead they were welcomed with books, flowers, hotel upgrades - and a ceremonial dance display. The occasion? Their touchdown in Bandaranaike International Airport marked Sri Lanka's one millionth tourist of the year. Joshua, a Sainsbury's deputy store manager from Lewisham,said that the couple only learned of their celebrity status when their plane landed in Colombo. "We had no idea what was going on," said the Clayhall Synagogue member.
