Regina Waldman received an MBE for her charity work four years ago. But the 88-year-old grandmother from Leeds is renowned for something else: her chicken soup.
Which is why TV chef Nigel Slater paid her a visit for his new series Eating Together, which celebrates the best of home cooking.
He spent a day learning the secrets of the traditional Jewish elixir before enjoying it around the Shabbat table with Mrs Waldman and her family.
"My chicken soup is made with only bottom quarters of hen because the thigh part makes the better soup," she explained.
Her soup will star in the second episode, due to be broadcast Monday week.
"Nigel was the perfect gentleman and I think I taught him a thing or two about Jewish cuisine," she said.
