Members of the New North London Synagogue impressed with their horticultural achievements in an edition of Gardeners' Question Time which was recorded there on Monday. The programme, featuring a discussion on faith and gardens with NNLS's nature-loving rabbi, Jonathan Wittenberg, goes out on Radio 4 on Sunday week.
The expert panel was apparently surprised by the success of congregants who managed to grow oleander and gladioli so far north. Something to do with Finchley having been on the southern edge of the ice sheet in the last Ice Age, I'm told.
