A vegan activist has come under fire after comparing the slaughter of farm animals to the Holocaust.

Tash Peterson appeared on Piers Morgan's TV program Uncensored wearing a T-shirt with an image of a pig in a cage and the words 'End this holocaust’.

The Australian is currently in the UK for the Vegan Camp Out Festival where she will appear as a guest speaker.

She also recently staged protests outside a Perth restaurant where she disturbed diners by playing loud audio of squealing pigs while shouting about the 'animal apocalypse'.

Kicking off his show on Friday, Morgan said one of the reasons people were turned off by veganism was because they were “fed up with being shouted at”.

Referencing her recent protests, Morgan added: “You (Peterson) are one of those people that runs into restaurants and plays sounds from screaming animals in abattoirs and so on.”

Peterson interjected: “No, I don’t think so at all, I think it brings more attention to the animal holocaust.”

Morgan went on to ask: “Why would you use the word holocaust. Holocaust is the mass extermination of more than six million Jewish people by Adolf Hitler and the Nazis.“Why would you use that very emotive language knowing it would offend people?”.

The activist from Western Australia smugly replied that it was “just a factual statement” and claimed: “If you look at the definition of a holocaust it is slaughter or destruction on a mass scale.“Multiple holocausts have occurred throughout human history and non-human animals can be subjected to the same atrocities that humans can.”

Peterson had to seek clearance from an Australian court for her UK trip after she was charged with failing to leave a licensed venue, disorderly conduct and trespass.

She was issued with a 12 month ban from entering licensed venues across the whole state of Western Australia after multiple confrontations with a restaurant owner who banned vegans from his eatery.

John Mountain banned vegans from Perth restaurant Fyre in June. This caused Peterson to stage protests outside his venue.
