New home for old Deputies

articlemain

Limmud in the Woods campers may have rolled up their tents but they may need to get them out again - to lend to the Board of Deputies, which could be a homeless in a few weeks after the sale of its Bloomsbury headquarters.

The Board has eyed up a building close by the UJIA near Camden Tube, which originally had plenty of space for the Jewish Leadership Council to move in too – some believing cohabitation a sensible step before any merger of the two bodies.

The JLC did not exactly leap at the offer and part of the building was then sold elsewhere, though apparently enough room remains for the JLC and Board to bed down together. Meanwhile, not everyone at the Board is reconciled to swapping a central London postcode for NW1, and I hear the Board is considering temporarily lodging with the UJIA before any permanent relocation.
