Jonny Taylor is getting ready to release his debut single, London Town. Having already supported the US Grammy-nominated Jason Mraz in April at the Hammersmith Apollo, Mr Taylor has been tipped by industry experts as one to watch.
The singer-songwriter tells People: “These are very exciting times — and very nerve-wracking. It’s everything I have been working towards coming together, slowly but surely.”
He has appeared at the YoYo night at Notting Hill Arts Club, which has unearthed artists including Lily Allen and La Roux, and is managed by Air Management, which also look after Jamie Cullum and Jason Mraz. According to Mr Taylor, who lives in north London, London Town is “based on the misadventures of London’s youth. It’s a satirical observation of ‘Jack’, a misguided middle-class teen who embarks on a life in London’s underworld. Finally seeing the error of his ways, he tries to make things better but hilarity ensues and he does not quite get there.”
Mr Taylor graduated with a music degree from the University of Leeds. It was there that he decided to pursue a full-time career as a professional musician.
London Town will be available to download on iTunes from December 7 and Mr Taylor will be performing at the single launch party on December 9 at Barfly in Camden, north London.
