The IDF soldier killed in an attack by militants on the Egypt-Israel border, was buried on Sunday morning.

Netanel Yahalomi, 20, was shot in the head after three terrorists carrying guns and explosives crossed the Sinai border near Mount Arif on Friday afternoon, according to Israeli officials.

Lieutenant-Colonel Avital Leibovich, the IDF spokesperson, said: “One IDF soldier was killed and another wounded, as three terrorists opened fire towards them.

“The terrorists used a group of African job seekers as human shields, as they hid behind them before infiltrating.”

The militants, who were reportedly shot by retaliation fire, entered through a security fence which was under construction.

Lieutenant-Colonel Leibovich also confirmed that this was the third terror infiltration from Egypt into Israel since the start of 2012.
