At least six Israelis have been killed and 12 injured in a car collision near Haifa.

According to sources, the accident occurred when a truck driver lost control and collided with cars and pedestrians Wednesday afternoon.

With some cars ablaze, fire fighters, ambulance services and the police rushed to the scene.

It is believed there was a problem with the brakes of the truck. “At this moment in time we don’t believe it was a terror attack,” said Israel Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.

The injured have been evacuated to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
