A series of security failures helped a Gaza man to infiltrate Israel, where he stabbed a woman at her home in Sde Avraham on Monday.

The attacker cut through the electric Gaza border fence, then the Eshkol region fence. He walked several kilometres undetected before finally cutting the fence at Sde Avraham.

He stabbed the woman in her shoulder and face, but she managed to fight him off and he fled. The moshav’s security team gave chase and alerted the army. The attacker was shot dead shortly afterwards, when he made a threatening movement towards soldiers, the IDF said.
