Model Bar Refaeli has challenged Pink Floyd guitarist and singer Roger Waters over his boycott of Israel.

The Israeli said she wanted Mr Waters to stop using an image of her in the background of his concerts after he urged activists to declare a cultural boycott of the country.

The British musician is a long-standing advocate of boycott, divestment and sanctions.

On Wednesday, Ms Refaeli posted a message in Hebrew on Twitter telling him: "Roger Waters, you better take my picture off of the video art at your shows. If you’re boycotting - go all the way.”

Two years ago she attended a concert in France and saw Mr Waters use an image of her in a montage on stage.

Mr Waters this week backed violinist Nigel Kennedy's anti-Israel comments made at a Proms performance at the Royal Albert Hall. In an open letter to music fans he referred to Mr Kennedy as his "brother" and said the apartheid comments were "not unusual".

He also criticised Baroness Deech for calling for Mr Kennedy's comments to be cut from the BBC broadcast of the concert. Mr Waters pointed out that Baroness Deech's surname was originally "Fraenkel" and claimed she had "prevailed upon the BBC to censor Kennedy’s performance by removing his statement".

Earlier this month Mr Waters was criticised for displaying a giant inflatable pig emblazoned with a Star of David during a concert.
