Heimishe bard sings the Jews

articlemain

You have got to admire anyone who rhymes "Succos" with "tuches", as does grandmother-of-four Judy Karbritz in her newly published odes to Jewish life, Tower of Bagels.

The collection covers the gamut of Jewish experience from the madness of Pesach preparations to a broiges between two sisters.

Some of her poems are written to be sung to the tune of well-known songs, such as "Waltzing into Gilda's "(Waltzing Mathilda) or "Smelly Pink Worsht" (Little White Bull).

Ms Karbritz, who was recently made Harrow Council's community poet, regularly performs for Wizo. "Performance is a celebration of our lives, our Jewishness and our families," she said.
