The JC, in association with the Richard Young Gallery, is launching its first Young Photographers Competition, aimed at people aged 30 and under.
Aspirant photographers, amateur or professional, are invited to submit a picture on the theme of modern Jewish Britain.
The best pictures will be published in the JC later this year, and the overall winner will have a unique opportunity - their picture will go on show, for sale, in the Richard Young Gallery during its annual end-of-year exhibition.
The competition will be judged by renowned celebrity photographer Richard Young and the JC's award-winning creative director, John Belknap.
The Richard Young Gallery, founded in Holland Park, west London, in 2008 by Susan and Richard Young, is one of the foremost contemporary photography galleries in London.
Richard Young began his career in 1974 and is renowned for his candid pictures of the internationally famous - most often, these days, at their invitation.
New Yorker John Belknap designed for the Village Voice, the New York Times, and has been art director of many British titles, including the Sunday Telegraph magazine, the Daily Express, The European and Sunday Business.
1. The competition will be open to photographers aged 30 and under. Photographers do not need to be British themselves.
2. The theme will be "Modern Jewish Britain". Pictures should be submitted in digital form only to: jcyoungphotographers@gmail.com. Photos should be high resolution jpgs only, 300 dpi. There should be no limit to the size you can submit, but if you have any problems, please email the same address for assistance. Photos can be colour or black and white.
3. The competition will close on October 16 and be judged shortly after. The judges' decision is final.
4. The JC will publish a selection of the winners, and the Richard Young Gallery in Kensington (www.richardyounggallery.co.uk) will display one winning picture in a limited edition for sale in its end-of-year show.
