Fraudsters who operated a website selling illegal Premier League football tickets have been given suspended prison sentences.

In one season, Yonatan Miger, Michelle Deborah Kahtan and Michael Maygier sold more than £1 million worth of tickets through the onlineticketexpress website. But fans who bought tickets from the site found the tickets either did not exist or were for different areas of the stadiums.

At Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday, Miger, 26, of Golders Green, was sentenced to 12 months in jail suspended for two years and ordered to do 250 hours of community service after being convicted of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation.

Maygier, 32, of Albanwood, Watford, admitted the same charge and received 12 months in jail suspended for two years, with 280 hours’ community service. Kahtan, 30, also of Albanwood, received eight months suspended for two years and must complete 200 hours of community work for admitting the same offence.

Four men from Manchester, Colwyn Bay, Kendal and Liverpool received similar sentences for the same offences.
