Facebook gives head start to new JFS leaders

articlemain

To say that elections for head boy and girl of JFS were hotly contested would be an understatement as no fewer than 34 students entered the ring this year.

After being grilled by a panel of students and teachers, the candidates were whittled down to eight boys and seven girls for a further week of canvassing.

The campaign went online with videos posted on Facebook before sixthformers, teachers and representatives from younger years cast their votes.

Victors Mia Grabski, from Edgware, and Gideon Benedyk, from Bushey, both 16, will take office in January.

Mia, a madrichah for youth movement Noam, who plans to study either maths or chemistry at university, caught attention with a video showing a domino-run of books which spelt out the words "Vote for Mia" when
they fell.

Gideon, a Bnei Akiva madrich, whose extra-curricular interests include the British Monarchist Society ,received 14,000 visits to his Facebook site. He is thinking of a career in the army.

Deputy head girls and boys will be Jessica Ansell, Ruby Rosenthal, Adam Clifton and Jojo Moss.
