Diplomatic experts set for 'bromantic' dinner

articlemain

They were once on opposite sides of the fence but now they are friends - and ready to have a frank conversation on the state of British-Israeli relations.

At research group Bicom's annual dinner next month, former Sky News foreign editor, Tim Marshall, and Israel's former ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosor, are set to discuss how the media impacts upon bilateral relations.

The pair first met when Mr Prosor was spokesman at the Israeli embassy in London in the 1990s putting Israel's case to probing journalists like Mr Marshall.

Bicom chief executive James Sorene described the men's current relationship as "the biggest 'bromance' in British-Israel relations".

The dinner will see Bicom announce plans for more conferences, seminars and media delegations to Israel for British journalists.

Mr Sorene said: "News has been transformed by social media. The Middle East is being torn apart by war and extremism. Israel's challenges are tougher every day. Bicom cannot stand still, to succeed we have to stay one step ahead."
