These two women are doing their bit to help vulnerable children in Israel. Deborah Nathan (right) has become the new director of Emunah — the charity which cares for youngsters in Israel whose lives are in danger — while Camille Compton has been elected as the organisation’s new chair.

One of their main aims is to get the organisation to appeal to a younger crowd. Ms Nathan, the former financial director at Chai Cancer Care, tells People: “It is time to find a new direction in order to continue the work we do in Israel.

“We have been going for 75 years and need to stay relevant to people — or they will give to other organisations.” Former vice chair Mrs Compton, 44, says: “It is a tough time for charities. There are so many, all worthy. We are trying to appeal to the wider community and improve our schools and youth programme.” Mrs Compton will serve a two-year term before continuing her voluntary involvement with the charity on the executive committee.
