Whitefield Golf Club has committed to raise £35,000 for a driving range for children from special needs schools in the Manchester area. The club's Gordon Desser said that local businesses and individuals were being approached for support. "If this pilot scheme is successful, we plan to extend the programme to disabled adults and heart and stroke patients who are recommended by the medical profession to try golf as part of their rehabilitation."
