Twenty-one young Scots have returned from a UJIA trip to Poland, during which they stayed in the historic Jewish quarter of Krakow and visited significant Holocaust sites.

The group was accompanied by youth workers Jared Ross and Ben Freeman and an Israeli educator, Pauline Kelif. Mr Ross said it had been an intensely emotional experience for everyone.

"As well as learning about Jewish history, it was an opportunity to learn about prejudice and racial discrimination on a deeper level. I really saw participants' confidence grow in the course of the trip," he reported.

"We provided an environment where discussion and individual thinking were really encouraged."
