Israel Club at King David High School has launched this year's UJIA Ethiopian bar and batmitzvah club with Rebbetzin Liat Lieberman.
Rebbetzin Lieberman explained to the pupils that as a group they need to raise £1,200 through fundraising in order for their Ethiopian twin in Israel to celebrate his/her bar/batmitzvah. During the forthcoming academic year the group would learn some Ethiopian customs and way of life.
Towards the end of the year, the group would then make something to present to their twin that would be sent to them in Israel via UJIA.
Rebbetzin Lieberman unveiled the quilt that last year's group made. The group painted the squares and community member Janet Malits stitched the squares and made them into a quilt.
Mrs Malits received a round of applause, as did last year's group, for producing the keepsake for its twin.
