Rocketing fortunes

The Y-UJIA committee got off to an explosive start with a north London fireworks party for young professionals.

More than 200 people enjoyed a fireworks display to the soundtrack of Katy Perry and Aerosmith, warming up with hot chocolate, marshmallow skewers and flame-cooked bananas drizzled with chocolate.

With the proceeds from a raffle - for which a scooter was the top prize - the night raised £3,500-plus for UJIA core projects in the UK and the Galil.

"It was lovely to see so many new faces on the evening," said Michelle Sawdaye, one of the organisers.

"We are looking forward to hosting many more events throughout the year."
