Topics ranging from the Jewish contribution to photography to the joys of Bibliyoga — accessing spirituality through the body — were covered at this week’s Wessex Regional Limmud in Bournemouth. Co-chaired by Janet Gee and Jonathan Kay, the 30-speaker programme drew more than 340 participants, including Londoners and Liverpudlians.

Opening the event, Bournemouth Mayor Councillor Anne Filer spoke of the positive response from the mainly non-Jewish civic delegation to Israel she had recently led. Eric Moonman discussed Israel at 60 and Simon Goulden enlightened his audience on sights to see in Israel away from the regular tourist haunts.

There was also a performance by Conflict Relief, a group of Arab, Israeli and Muslim actors, including Rebecca Gross, who was brought up in Bournemouth. The Rev Malcolm Weisman condensed 1,000 years of Anglo-Jewish history into 45 minutes. And David Solomon reviewed “The Whole of Jewish History in One Hour”.
