Job-hunting in Leeds may be about to get easier as dozens of businesses have responded to an employment initiative being set up by the Jewish community.

Community development executive Susie Gordon - who was hired to encourage young Jewish professionals and students to settle in Leeds - has set up a free online recruitment facility. Using web networks like LinkedIn and Facebook, she has contacted more than 100 firms to promote their job vacancies free of charge. Graduates and young professionals can then find the jobs via a dedicated Facebook account.

"Jobs are the main pull to keep people in Leeds and attract people from other communities," Ms Gordon explained.

"Thirty businesses have responded positively and six companies have already returned with job opportunities - and that's only after two days."
