Jewish primary Eden set for Haringey

articlemain

The soon-to-open Jewish primary in Haringey has been renamed to better reflect its ethos.

Eden Primary, formerly Haringey Jewish Primary, has been given the final governmental go-ahead after Education Secretary Michael Gove approved its five-year plan.

Joint project leader Peter Kessler said: "We thought the previous name was useful but didn't say anything about what the school means and our ethos. We think the new name has meaning for Jewish people but is also inclusive enough that the wider community could understand it."

The school will open for the September academic year in Creighton Avenue, Muswell Hill.

Fifty per cent of places will be available on a proximity basis and the other 50 per cent on a faith basis.
