FZY celebrates centenary

articlemain

Family links were to the fore as the Federation of Zionist Youth launched its centenary celebrations on Sunday at its Hendon base.

Fifty current and former FZY members heard movement reminiscences from Betty Marks, who was national secretary in 1950, and her daughter Alison Nagli, who took an FZY Israel tour in 1980. Also contributing by video-link was Mrs Marks’ granddaughter Emma Nagli, who is in Israel as a year scheme leader for the movement.

Current FZY secretary Jamie Slavin outlined the values that underpin the work of FZY.

Other celebratory events include a party night in Whetstone for former members aged 18-30 and the showpiece, a major reunion in March.
