American-born Rabbi Monique Mayer has been inducted as the Bristol and West Progressive Jewish Congregation minister.

The service was led by Liberal Judaism chief executive Rabbi Danny Rich and also featured emeritus minister Rabbi Francis Berry, who has been part of the community for more than 30 years.

Rabbi Mayer formerly served as interim minister at Sha’arei Tsedek, North London Reform, and has authored Liberal Judaism programmes. Before her rabbinical career, she taught science and mathematics in the United States.
