Board and AJA leaders await their audience with the Queen

articlemain

A joint delegation from the Board of Deputies and the Anglo-Jewish Assocation is to visit Buckingham Palace next week to present a loyal address to the Queen for her diamond jubilee.

The address will be delivered in a scroll in the throne room and a reception will follow the presentation.

It was the AJA which organised the loyal address given to Queen Victoria on her diamond jubilee in 1897. Board president Vivian Wineman will be accompanied by two of his vice-presidents, Jonathan Arkush and Jerry Lewis (the third, Paul Edlin, is abroad), treasurer Laurence Brass and its two ecclesiastical authorites, Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks and Spanish and Portuguese spiritual head Rabbi Abraham Levy.

Also attending will be five former Board presidents - Lord Janner, Lionel Kopelowitz, Eldred Tabachnik, Jo Wagerman and Henry Grunwald - as well as patron Sir Sigmund Sternberg.

Representing the AJA will be its president Neil Miron, along with Michael Hilsenrath, Michael Newman, Clemens Nathan and Jonathan Walker.
