Chief rebuked on gay marriage

Spectator columnist Charles Moore wagged a finger at the Chief Rabbi this week for missing the Lords debate on gay marriage the other day.

In contrast to the Archbishop of Canterbury, who opposed the same-sex bill, Lord Sacks should be “reproved” for his no-show, he blogged.

“Orthodox Judaism is absolutely clear on this issue, but Lord Sacks absented himself. Perhaps he feels that Jews should not intervene in secular society. But if such a key social institution as marriage is beyond his responsibility, why did he agree to become a legislator?
