Of apples and honey - not for the last time this year

I often get sent foodie parcels. In the run up to Rosh Hashanah, some are more exciting than others

I have received two deliveries this week.

One arrived in the post last Friday. It was from The London Honey Company. The most gorgeous looking jar of honey (from Zambia - noch) and an incredibly cute box — with honey bee motif — of 4 miniature jars of English honeys.

I will be sampling them and sharing the results in future Fresser missives. For now, i'm enjoying admiring the packaging with that delicous anticipation you get ahead of your birthday or (now I'm a mother) your child's birthday. Of good things to come.

Another less glamorous (but no less welcome) parcel came back with Mr Fresser from my In-Laws. A huge carrier bag of apples from the orchard behind their home in East Hertforshire. The bag just smells so appley.

It seems fitting, when i'm busy writing recipes for our Yom Tov pages, that both apples and honey should land on my doorstep.

Sorry to sound a bit misty eyed about this, but I just love this time of year.
