Plan that perfect Valentine's Day getaway

We suggest Valentine's Day getaways

Adults-only in Marbella

New this year is the 236-room adult-only Amare Marbella Beach hotel. The property has harbour and sea views over the Med. It is a large complex that envelopes the Amare Club hub which comprises a private beach, a chill-out lounge and a pool area whose sunbeds are equipped with a service button for those moments when you need to order a cocktail. Should you want a change of scene there is a roof bar and a wellness centre or you could leave the hotel to explore the old city a few minutes walk away.

Doubles from £73 per night b&b,

Frolic in New York

Romantics could head for New York, enjoy a carriage ride in Central Park, ice skating at the Rockefeller Center or the ultimate - a proposal at the top of the Empire State Building. Hayes and Jarvis is offering a three night trip with prices from just £499 per person and savings of £94 per person. Departing on February 13 the trip includes three nights at the iconic art deco four star Wyndham New Yorker - just steps away from Macy's and the Empire State Building - on a room-only basis and flights from London Heathrow with British Airways and American Airlines.

Secluded in Shropshire

Take to the water on a rowboat for two at Dearnford Lake where couples can enjoy the privacy of a secluded lakeside timber camping pod, complete with private jetty and wooden rowboat.

The on-site cafe is a great facility, serving homemade breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas made daily with regional produce. A takeaway service for pod guests is also available. Romantics can watch the sun set over the lake before snuggling down for the night in the pod's double bed. Bed linen is provided along with wine glasses and tea and coffee making facilities. Prices start from £170 per couple for two nights over Valentine's weekend, February 12-14.

Bejewelled in Florence

Stay in one of the most romantic cities in the world with Portrait Firenze and leave with a bespoke piece of jewellery designed by you or your loved one. Spend an afternoon visiting the laboratory of one of the oldest jewellery makers over the iconic Ponte Vecchio, Fratelli Piccini, and create your own heirloom before strolling through the famous Vasari Corridor.

In the evening, enjoy a romantic dinner for two at Portrait Firenze's Caffè Dell'Oro overlooking the river before spending the night in an Arno Suite. The following morning, treat yourself to breakfast in bed with champagne and pastries by renowned Italian pastry chef Loretta Fanella.

The Portrait Firenze's Valentine's weekend package is available on February 13 and costs from €670 (around £510) per room per night, excluding taxes.
