The 2018 winners of the Daniel Sacks Awards for Outstanding Young Athletic Achievement are  Jack Davis-Black, Jayden Klein and 
Millie Aslan.

London Heathside middle-distance runner Davis-Black, now 14, has enjoyed an exceptional season over track, road and cross-country.

After placing fifth in his age group in the Middlesex cross-country championships and leading home his Islington Borough team in the Virgin London mini-marathon, Davis-Black went on to triple gold medal success on the track.

Representing his school JCOSS, he beat stiff competition to win the Barnet Schools 1,500m title. In August he took both the 800m and 1,500m titles at the JCC Maccabi Games in Orange County,  USA, setting personal bests of 2:20.9 and 4:44.7 respectively.

 He also recorded the fine time of 10:31.8 for 3,000m in a Woodford Green open meeting. Moving into the new cross-country season, he has now 
added the Barnet schools Year Nine championship to his growing list of titles.

Yavneh College pupil Jayden Klein, 12, has made a tremendous start to his athletics career. Willing to try any event, the Maccabi London Harrier has competed at, among others, Watford open graded and London Inter-Club challenge meetings.

He has achieved national U13 rankings in the 100m, 200m, 75m hurdles and high jump, all of these either before, or just after, his 12th birthday. His personal best marks for these events are 13.94, 28.61, 15.90 and 1.35m.

Middle-distance specialist Millie Aslan, now 14, demonstrated her versatility by taking five individual gold medals at the JCC Games in Orange County. Her winning events were the 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, long jump and triple jump, and for good measure she also took silvers in the 100m and high jump. In national competition Aslan improved her personal bests over 200m, 800m and 1,500m to 31.57, 2:42.83 and 5:35.82 respectively.  She also helped Highgate Harriers to secure team silver in the Middlesex cross-country championships and represented Haringey Borough in both the London Youth Games cross-country championship and the Virgin London mini-marathon.
