World Cup woe for Rinast

articlemain

Rachel Rinast continued her rapid rise up the football ladder in Switzerland’s match against Japan at the Fifa Women’s World Cup.

Rinast, who celebrated her 24th birthday last week, helped Maccabi Germany win gold in the Ladies Futsal competition at the European Maccabi Football Trophy in London 12 months ago.

Described as “extremely athletic” by Switzerland head coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, Rinast, who has a Swiss mother, played the full 90 minutes in the team’s 1-0 defeat.

Rinast, who plays in defence for FC Koln in Germany, was spotted playing in the depths of Bundesliga 2 only a few months ago.

Switzerland conclude the group phase in Canada with matches against Ecuador and Cameroon.
