Daryl Kay believes Woodford Wanderers must win their final five matches if they are to be crowned champions after a late goal denied them maximum points against SPEC FC at Hertswood.

SPEC FC blew a hole in Woodford's title hopes as Ashley Burns and Alex Hershman earned SPEC FC an impressive point at Hertswood.

ASHLEY BURNS put SPEC in front from the penalty spot following a "needless foul" from Woodford skipper Adam Poole.

Woodford equalised on the stroke of half-time with a penalty of their own, tucked away by ALEX AVIRAM, and it was game on.

A "thunder-bolt" from ELLIOTT GOLD put the east Londoners in charge 10 minutes into the second half but ALEX HERHSMAN sealed a point for SPEC with an 85th-minute leveller.

Woodford joint-manager Alex Aviram told JC Sport: "We didn’t play well enough and that’s the bottom line.

"We rode our luck a bit at times and a tiny, high school sized 3g pitch with wires above each goal area, was is absolutely ridiculous by the way, didn’t help either.

"I think we now have to win all of our remaining five games if we want to win the title, and after the performance and result the boys have a look of work to do to convince Jerome and I that they are ready for the Prem."

SPEC FC player-manager Ricky Lawrence told JC Sport: "I think a draw was the fair result. The game was played in exactly the right spirit and a loss would have been harsh on either side.

"Woodford seemed like they were going to take all three points with a late winner but Alex Hershman scored a fantastic half volley to earn us a draw."
