Wimbledon woe for Peer

articlemain

Dudi Sela will be Israel's only representative in the Singles event at Wimbledon after Shahar Peer crashed out in the final round of the qualifiers.

A 6-1, 6-4 defeat against American Bethanie Mattek-Sands means that Peer tasted heartbreak on a surface she struggles on by her own admission for the second time in three years.

Peer follows compatriots Amir Weintraub and Julia Glushko who were eliminated in earlier rounds.

There was better news for Yoni Erlich, however, as he came through two qualifying round to book his place the main draw for the Doubles.

Wimbledon begins on Monday.
