MGBSFL DIVISION TWO
AC MILL HILL 4 FC TEAM B 3
Dan Beresford praised super-sub Mark Truman as AC Mill Hill secured second place after staging the comeback of the weekend in an eight-goal thriller against FC Team C at Chase Lodge.
Trailing 3-1 at the break, Beresford threw on Truman who helped the hosts claw their way back into the game before stealing a dramatic and famous victory.
It was the tale of the slope as Team marched into a 3-0 lead via Dan Stanton, Adam Stolerman and Aron Barnes.
Richard Winton gave Mill Hill a lifeline in a half where Stanton and Stolerman had "terrorised" the Mill Hill defence.
The goal sparked Mill Hill into life and they looked a totally proposition after the break. With the next goal crucial, it was Mill Hill who found the net again when the alert Shoffman fired home a rebound before top-scorer Ben Zloof equalised following a flowing move.
The game was then turned on its head when Jonny Horwitz, who has been a revelation at left-back this season, found space down the left carried the ball all the way down and put in a fantastic cross that Shoffman nonchalantly flicked home to spark scenes of ecstasy.
Horwitz then capped off a fantastic performance with a goal with a great left-footed finish and at that point promotion was sealed.
Mill Hill boss Dan Beresford told JC Sport: "I thought it was an unbelievable game and a great occasion.
"Having been 3-0 down after 30 minutes, Winton's goal gave us a foothold on the game with Richard Winton's goal just before half-time.
"We went in at the break and I knew what needed to be said and I made the change and the influence of Mark Truman in second half made a massive impact. They could not handle his physical presence.
"I have to give a massive thanks to everyone involved In the club for their hard work over the season which has been thoroughly enjoyable."
So it's Mill Hill who join FC Team B in automatic promotion and they can now look forward to life in Division One next season.
