LONDON MACCABI LIONS A 2 FAITHFOLD A 5
Rocky Spitzer bagged a brace as table-toppers Faithfold blew the Lions away at Rowley Lane and move six points clear at the summit.
There was also a goal for Lions old boy MIke Pearson, Jonny Haik and Daryl Phillips as the Superhoops recorded a stunning win at Rowley Lane.
Second half strikes from Lee Cash and Alex Bowman proved little more than scant consolation for the Lions.
Jubilant Faithfold boss Zuriel Solomon told JC Sport: "We stormed out of the blocks and our high tempo football shook Lions and we were 4-0 up at half-time. Some of our football was amazing. Second half I knew the next goal would be crucial and to be fair to Lions they dominated parts of the second half as they had nothing to lose.
"We had to dig deep second half under a lot of pressure, but we killed the game when mike Pearson scored the fifth.
"Lions have the makings of a good team and have made some good signings and will be hard to beat, but we had too much for them today."
Lions interim manager Andy Landesberg told JC Sport: "It was a bad day at the office for Lions today.
"Faithfold were by far the better team in the first half going in at half time 4-0 up. James [Gershfield)and I re-shuffled the pack at half time nod the boys responded very well, scoring two goals in the first 20 minutes.
"Faithfold were hanging on, but their experienced players took time out the game, and Lions couldn't find the next goal to make a real match of it. Faithfold then scored their fifth on a counter-attack in the last five minutes and the game was over.
"Whilst the first half was very poor from the Lions, we were encouraged by the way the boys responded to the half time teamtalk. We are very much a work in progress and hope we can build on the second half performance.
F"aithfold were the deserved winners today, taking the game away from us in the first 30 minutes.
"Hopefully we will have learnt from our first half performance."
