JC GOAL OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- DANIEL SELIGMAN (Oakwood B) - beautiful curling free-kick from right to left to put Oakwood ahead. His set-pieces have improved a lot this year

- JOE METLISS (Real Hendon) - a long ball from Doron Shooter at the back was help up nicely by our big centre forward Benny Goldberg. He laid the ball off to Lolu Hibbert who passed to Chaim Gothold who laid the ball off to me. Motty Korman played a defence-splitting pass through to our debutant Metliss who ran through a finished past the keeper

- LOUIS NAUGHTEN (Faithfold A) - scored the fourth with a bullet shot from 25 yards out that arrowed into the top corner. No-one was stopping that

- BRAD WINE (Oakwood A) - broke the deadlock after the best move of the match, finally unlocked the Redbridge door, following a great ball from Toby on left wing

- SVI FREEDMAN (Los Blancos) - scored another absolute belter cutting in on the right wing and delivering with the left boot

JC QUOTE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- SAM MARCHANT (ML Lions Blue) - "Our squad is extremely young, an average age of 20-21 and it sometimes shows. Our technical ability is there, no doubt. The issue is this season, in nearly all the games we have lost, we have outplayed the opponents. We have a lot to work on as a group but once it clicks and everything falls into place, we will be a serious force. It’s a matter of completing the puzzle and making sure everyone is moulding together to create and go where we need to be”

- BRANDON HAMME (Mill Hill Dons) - "There is a great hunger and desire within our squad and every week we show up desperate for a win. It's a very exciting time to be managing the side and I'm proud of what we have achieved so far this season, we can't get ahead of ourselves though but things are looking very positive"

- MOTTY KORMAN (Real Hendon) - Adam Ellis equalised again in the 96th minute - we still can't work out where the six minutes came from"

- SAM ROSE (NL RAIDERS C) - "We know we have things to still work on technically, but after a difficult week against Bayern last time out, this was a welcome step in the right direction"

- DAN KRISTALL (Oakwood A) - "Good luck to Redbridge B over the remainder of the season. I am sure they will be challenging in Division One. I've given Jase some tips as I believe they play each other in a couple of weeks"

- JOEL SALOMON (Los Blancos) -  "If Raiders are still looking for David Dinkin, he was found in Gav Krieger’s back pocket after the game"

ANEKSTEIN CUP DRAW

YOUR WEEKEND REVIEW STARTS HERE:

CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND TWO

LOS BLANCOS 3 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B 2

Oli Sade, Daniel Sinclair and Svi Freedman helped Los Blancos edge into round three after beating Division One rivals Raiders B in a five-goal thriller.

Blancos forged ahead on eight minutes but they were in the ascendency for just six minutes until NLR levelled when a long-throw from Rob Blackman was flicked on by Mark Leader and Charles Braunstein gambled at the near post to head in low past the keeper

Blancos regained the lead with a free header on 77 minutes and they sealed the tie five minutes from time with a brilliant curling left-footed shot into the far corner.

NLR set up a grandstand finish with a 92nd minute strike - David Dinkin was fouled 25 yards out and Brandon Sassoon curled a low free-kick round the wall beyond the Blancos keeper but it was to no avail as Blancos progressed.

Blancos co-manager Joel Salomon told JC Sport: "It was a great win for the boys and a game that meant a lot to win, especially to Doffman who I know enjoyed the victory. We're still undefeated we’re now building great momentum and every time the lads step out on the pitch they know they should be getting the win. If Raiders are still looking for David Dinkin, he was found in Gav Krieger’s back pocket after the game."

Stand-in NLR boss Doron Salomon told JC Sport: "Whilst the scoreline might suggest this was a cup-classic this was a scrappy affair which saw two good sides cancel each other out for long spells.

"The first half was very even with neither side able to create decent goal-scoring opportunities but Blancos were able to call on fresh legs in the second half and playing with the wind behind them they were able to find an edge.

"I'm pleased with how the boys stuck at it despite numerous players being asked to play in roles they wouldn't normally perform. It was always going to be a tough game with just 11 players available but It's hard to be too disappointed with how it panned out given that we ended up with just nine players on the pitch for the last 10 minutes due to injuries. We wish Blancos all the best in the cup and look forward to meeting them in the league later in the season.”

DC Prediction: Blancos 1 Raiders 1 (AET – Raiders to win on penalties)

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B 0 OAKWOOD A 4

Oakwood moved into round three but patience was key in a game of late goals against a resilient Redbridge B.

Heroic defending from Dan Lassman, Dan Andrews, Dan Adelman and Scott McKenzie kept the Oaks out until the last 15 minutes when Brad Wine, Jonny Quinn, Simon Davies and David Woolman saw them through.

Oaks co-boss Dan Kristall told JC Sport: "The scoreline probably flatters us and doesn't tell the story. Redbridge defended very well and frustrated us for the majority of the match. I feel that fitness and the extra quality pulled us through in the last 20 minutes where we scored four very nice goals."

Proud RJC joint-manager Josh Hambling told JC Sport: "I’m proud of the team today we showed great attitude and team spirit. We matched the best team in Jewish football for 80 mins but ultimately class shone through. We will use this game to push ourselves on in the league. Best of luck to Oakwood in the cup it will take a very good team to beat them."

BRADY MACCABI 3 MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE 2

Two more goals from Reiss Mogilner, including a penalty, and one from Stanley Offord earned Brady Maccabi three points in the latest Rowley Lane derby as they maintained their title challenge after a five-goal thriller.

Brady joint-manager Joel Nathan told JC Sport: "We had a bare 11 today with Matt Sofier making a comeback after a few years away. His experience, alongside Graeme Grossman - one of our Masters players - told in the end."

Lions boss Sam Marchant told JC Sport: "Today’s result is probably the most difficult to swallow of the season. Again to lose from being 2-0 up is seriously disappointing."

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 1 CAMDEN PARK 2

Strikes from Josh Marks and Johan Jordi saw Camden Park produced one of the results and performances of the day after registering their first win of the season at the home of the Peter Morrison Trophy holders.

Camden boss Stirling Kay told JC Sport: "It was a fantastic win - to a man the lads stuck to the game-plan, even with a number of them were playing out of position."

DC Prediction: Raiders 2 Camden 1

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 5 MACCABI LONDON LIONS WHITE 2

DANIEL GARFINKLE was the hat-trick hero as Redbridge Jewish Care maintained their position at the top of the table with a five-star win over Lions White.

Further strikes from Russell Goldstein and Steve Summers added the gloss in a game where the east London came from two goals down to secure their fourth consecutive league win.

RJC boss Jon Jacobs told JC Sport: "We made a great comeback against a very strong and youthful Lions side. They will do extremely well if they can keep that 11, as well as a few older heads, and have a squad that can beat anyone."

Kiki Levin and Josh Weiner had put Lions in front and boss James Gershfield told JC Sport: "We started the game very well and with only 11 players and no subs we rushed into a 2-0 lead but then an injury to Richard Gold left us with 10 and it was always going to be an uphill battle from there."

Faithfold's Avi Markiewicz told JC Sport: "In truth it could have been more if not for some good goalkeeping, a little wastefulness and the woodwork, but we won not because our opposition were poor, they really weren't, but because we worked tirelessly and for each other that coupled with a group of very talented group of lads makes for a potent mixture."

Nick Phillips and Jamie Nagioff completed the scoring in Borehamwood.

Delighted Dons boss Brandon Hamme told JC Sport: "There is a great hunger and desire within our squad and every week we show up desperate for a win."

Ben Portnoi and Yehuda Emanuel scored for Faithfold for whom player-manager David Garson told JC Sport: "We couldn’t cope with their long throw and they were much stronger and faster than us and deserved the win. Good luck to them for the rest of the season."

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 3 FC TEAM 3

Mitch Young, Richard Salmon and Jon Breger earned FC Team a share of the spoils after a six-goal thriller against Raiders C.

Adam Leveson, Alex Goodman and Jonny Blain struck for Raiders and manager Sam Rose told JC Sport: "Last week we spoke about showing our character in this game and we certainly did that, coming back three times against a good FC Team side. From that perspective I’m really proud of the guys today."

FC Team player-manager Mitch Young told JC Sport: "The fact we failed to win is very embarrassing - we bossed the game and could have scored nearly double figures. I just can’t believe we have not won. We gifted them three goals with shambolic defending and they are leaving Brunel today with their get out of jail free card well and truly played."

Real's Motty Korman told JC Sport: "We're very pleased with our performance against a very good team and probably the best individual player in our division, and will take the positives into our next game."

Bayern joint-manager Alon Pinhas told JC Sport: "Overall, I can't say I'm happy with a point as I know this is the worst Bayern will ever play, but it was a good sign to see my team fighting until the last moment and not losing."
