JC QUOTE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- SAM MARCHANT (Lions B) - QUOTE 1 - "With silverware at stake for Redbridge, they were the more motivated of the teams and it really showed. When it comes to a season and the title, the most consistent team always wins, and Redbridge were just that this season. I wish them congratulations for lifting the title"

- SAM MARCHANT (Lions B) - QUOTE 2 - "We were in a difficult position in December and today’s loss was our first in the league since then. We’ve shown the fight in the second half of the season to get promotion. That was our sole aim at the beginning of the season and we look to have accomplished that which really is superb"

- SIMON LINDEN (Temple Fortune) - QUOTE 1 - "This season has been unbelievable, this time last year the club finished second from bottom and the agenda was to get Fortune playing as a competitive force again, not in my wildest dreams did I think we would finish top two, but credit to everyone involved in the football club who all played a part in making this happen"

- SIMON LINDEN (Temple Fortune) - QUOTE 2 - "It's funny because Avi Markiewicz at RCUK, said in his pre-season preview that they will win the league and nothing else, we sit 17 points above them today"

- NEIL COLLINS (South Manchester) - "The only 'negative' of the day, if you could call it that, was that the Carmelli delivery obviously didn't arrive on time which was disappointing as I'd been looking forward to a bagel, but the sandwiches did the job"

- DAN KRISTALL (Oakwood A) - "We now sit back and watch Hendon and Raiders take on Redbridge. If these games had been played in the business end of the season, we would be in with a far higher chance of taking the title. However, we firmly believe that both Hendon will have a point to prove and hopefully will have recovered some players by the end of the month and we know that Raiders will give them a good game. You just never know in football. Pressure can do funny things to teams and both Hendon and Raiders will have no pressure on them"

- RIC BLANK (Oakwood A) - QUOTE 1 - “Football is an addiction to many of us and Sunday football the drug. I am no different. As a boy my weekends were: Saturday at Old Trafford, Sunday at Hough End playing for South. When I moved to London there was a gap that needed filling. That proved to be Oakwood. When Jonny Beilin and I took over the ailing Oakwood C team I had no idea the adventure that lay ahead"

RIC BLANK (Oakwood A) - QUOTE 2 - “I couldn't have conceived of the people I'd meet, the friends I'd make, the stories I'd be able to tell. And I'd have laughed if you'd have said one day we'd be one of the best Jewish sides in the country. But we are"

RIC BLANK (Oakwood A) - QUOTE 3 - “People who don’t play Sunday League will never understand the adrenalin, the passion, the tears - that feeling when Leor Sidle scores a 91st minute winner at Hendon, or Quinny equalises at Wingate in the 119th minute. The changing room after we beat Neasden or knocked Raiders out of the Morrison"

PETER MORRISON TROPHY SEMI-FINAL

MACCABI LONDON LIONS UNDER-21 0 SOUTH MANCHESTER SPORTS CLUB 1st 3

A deadly double from Saul Shapiro and one from Toby Levy steered South Manchester march into the final of the Jewish FA Cup following an outstanding team performance over Lions U21s at Rowley Lane.

Shapiro scored twice inside the opening 20 minutes before Levy added the gloss in the latter stages of the second half to ensure South returned up the M6 with a place in the final at Oldham Athletic next month.

Jubilant South Manchester manager Neil Collins told JC Sport: "To come to London twice and win is a huge achievement and shows the character of the boys."

OAKWOOD A 6 MACCABI LONDON LIONS A 3

Oakwood face an anxious wait to find out if they will be crowned champions after ending the season in style with a handsome 6-3 win over Lions A.

Managed by Dan Kristall and Ric Blank, Oakwood could have done no more, after strikes from Dave Woolman (2), Alex Lee (2), Brad Wine and Kyle Bentwood. Adam Arnold (2) and Sam Lewis registered for Lions.

RIC BLANK STEPS DOWN AS MANAGER

Oakwood must now wait and hope Redbridge fail to fail to register maximum points in their final three matches in order to be crowned champions.

Oakwood joint-manager Dan Kristall told JC Sport: "We really couldn’t have done any more this calendar year after a stuttering start to our league campaign. We were completely out of it when we drew at FC team in October and when we lost in the Morrison to lower league opposition our season looked to be over by early December, but out of nowhere we stepped up and have been on the most incredible run beating some very good sides along the way. One defeat in 18 matches is remarkable achievement and something we would definitely have taken back in September."

CAMDEN PARK 0 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 1

Jonny Kay boosted NLR’s hopes of a top four finish with the only goal against Camden.

Raiders manager Dan Shafron told JC Sport: "It was one-way traffic for most of the game, however Camden deserve a lot of credit for how they defended. Much of the second half was relentless but we just struggled to put the ball in the net. It's now on to next week in a game that we are all very excited for."

Proud Camden boss Stirling Kay told JC Sport: "It was very bad luck on a day as we put in a very good team performance. Unfortunately injuries during the game and lack of fitness were key."

"We won the league, at Rowley Lane," those were the cries of the Redbridge fans after strikes from Brad Gayer and Jack Van Gelder secured the title.

Adam Abadi registered for Lions but it was RJC celebrating at the final whistle.

Lions boss Sam Marchant told JC Sport: "Today we weren’t at our best and Redbridge certainly deserved the victory. It took us until the 82nd minute before we actually started to play football and put Redbridge under some pressure which was too little, too late."

Michael Goldberg, Brett Stead, Zach Rich and an own goal added the gloss on a memorable morning for Simon Linden's men.

Proud Fortune boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "We will enjoy it and look forward to next season and the return of the Fortune, we are back and believe me the journey has only just started."

L'Equipe manager Nick Stern told JC Sport; "Temple Fortune wanted it more than us and the best side won. All we can do is look forward to the title celebration on the 23rd as that is what we are all counting down too."

Richard Fogelman kept his nose in front in the race for the MGBSFL Golden Boot with another two goals in Faithfold's 5-1 success over Boca.

Chaim Bordon marked his return to league action with a goal, with Dan Lowen and Ben Portnoi completing the rout.

Yoss Brownson told JC reporters: "It feels great to get back to winning ways. We were wasteful in front of goal, but what matters is that we defended well, created chances, scored more than they did and we enjoyed it out there."

Boca's Anton Nyman told JC Sport; "We really fell apart and struggled against a side who gave us too much to handle."
