Having secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Peter Morrison Trophy, Lions Blue will make the short trip to Camden Park full of confidence.

They remained patient in a keenly-contested tie against Sedgley Park last Sunday, and most importantly kept their heads, while their opponents had three men sent off.

Sam Marchant’s boys played with great maturity and they will be looking to maintain that momentum in the build-up to their trip to Manchester.

Josh Bloom was the chief tormentor when the Lions put Camden to the sword 4-0 in December. He started on the bench in the cup game last week but I expect him to start in game in which he will be looking to fill his boots in.

Camden were well beaten by Lions White last weekend. Dan Orgel’s consolation was about the only positive Stirling Kay and co managed to take away from the 5-1 defeat.

They have lost all three home games and found the net just twice at Hadley this season. Can I see them getting the better of Lions. The simple answer is no.

MACCABI LONDON LIONS WHITE vs OAKWOOD A

Lions White could join Oakwood on 20 points if they win Sunday’s meeting, although the defending champions have three games in hand.

Dan Kristall described the first meeting as a “point gained” after drawing 2-2, with Simon Davies scoring late on.

Goalkeeper Joe Botchin had arguably his finest game in an Oakwood shirt, while Brad Wine was a beast in the centre of the park.

With a place in the last eight of the Morrison safely secured, the Lions face a tough run of match, with derbies against Lions Blue and Brady Maccabi to follow. And there is also the small matter of a quarter-final against highly-fancied Manchester Maccabi 1^st.

MLL’s home form has been good this season and they average four goals a game, so Oakwood will need to bring their A-game to the table.

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS

Hendon have little margin for error between now and what is expected to be a title showdown in their last league game against Oakwood – my sources have told me the crunch clash has been moved back for the When Sunday Comes cameras!

Redbridge away is never easy. And manager Greg Corin knows they. Yes they have stolen a march on Jon Jacobs’s men this season but as Raiders recently proved, every team is beatable.

Dovi Fehler was the hero of that famous high-scoring game in which Hendon broke RJC hearts on the final day a couple of years ago. And he has hit form at just the right time ahead of a busy run-in.

Yoav Kestenbaum and Rocky Spitzer will be looking to give Zac Lewis and Corin excellent delivery in a game in what could be a game of few chances, while Ben Lauffer, who has been in commanding form of late, will be determined to keep a close rein on the home strikers.

Redbridge recently gave as good as they got against Oakwood. Although the Morrison is their only remaining hope of silverware, they will want to put on a good show in front of their fans against the defending champions.

When Nathan Sollosi plays Redbridge play, as we have seen in the Jewish FA Cup this season. But they will one to show their rivals they are still capable of pulling a big result out of the bag.

Hendon have bounced back well following the NLR defeat with a pair of victories over Brady. And I have a sneaky feeling they will do the business again here.

The champagne will be on ice at the Hive as Faithfold attempt to clinch the title at the first time of asking.

Boosted by a six-point haul during this week’s Management Committee meeting for matches forfeited by their opponents, Avi Markiewicz’s men will be raring to go in what will be their first match in three weeks.

Faithfold were delighted Los Blancos did them a favour by beating NLR 3-2 last weekend, but Markiewicz and co won’t be counting their chickens just yet, especially as Raiders A don’t have a game ;)

The Superhoops remain unbeaten in the league. Markiewicz has helped transform the team’s fortunes since taking charge, bringing in some top quality talent in the process. David Leiwy and Ben Shirbini have been two of many success stories this season – and to think they didn’t have a recognised goalkeeper for long spells.

Ahead of kick-off, Markiewicz told JC Sport: "It’s the big day. Most may say that they take every game at a time but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t at the forefront of our minds that this game is for the title.

"We have a strong team and at home we are confident, but we are taking nothing for granted. I believe we’ve only played one or two games since the winter break and may be very rusty, but I believe in my team’s quality.

"We know that NLR's A=team have no game this week but we have checked their teamsheet from last game and also know they have a suspension so we’re prepared for any possible situations.

"Either way we are hoping to come away with the title on Sunday."

Bouncebackability is the name of the game for L’Orange on Sunday. The defeat against Blancos was a real hammer blow, but they will be determined to put Faithfold’s title party on hold.

They won’t need me to remind them they were humbled 7-4 by the Greens earlier in the season. They had no answer to the brilliance of four-goal hero Shirbini that day and with a trip to Redbridge to follow next week, joint-manager Jonny Adelman knows that victory on Sunday is crucial.

“We let ourselves down last weekend with a strangely off colour display,” Adelman told JC Sport. “We had a few of the lads suffering from illness but no excuses, Blancos were deserving winners and that result means Faithfold are champions elect.

“They’ve been the stand-out side in our division this season and we congratulate them on their achievement.

“That said we want to secure the runners=up spot and we are very motivated to put right both last weekend’s performance and also to address what was a poor performance at home to Faithfold earlier in the season where we had a bizarre 25-minute spell during which we gifted them a clutch of goals.”

I’m predicting a real crackerjack of a game which will come down to who wants it more.

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE C vs LOS BLANCOS

The Blancos boys have their tails up again after earning many plaudits – including Player of the Week and Manager of the Week – after their epic win over promotion-chasing Raiders.

Oli Sade was “unplayable” and unstoppable in what was arguably his best performance since his mega-bucks deal from Finchley City.

It was ultimately a performance that ticked all the boxes. Now the challenge is to maintain that level of performance between now and the end of the season. There is no tougher test than a trip to Redbridge as they look to leapfrog the east Londoners and finish the weekend in the top four.

Boss Joel Holder told JC Sport: “Blancos are up for the trip to Redbridge and want to build on their recent vain of good form.

“Unfortunately inspirational captain leader legend Joel Barnett is unavailable this week so Gav Krieger will captain the side. I will also be away (trying to recoup some crypto currency losses in Vegas)!

Blancos welcome back last year’s gaffer Nick Grosse in goal “in what will surely be an emotional return”. Further, towering centre back Joshua Hirshowitz is back from a loan spell in South America and relishing a battle in Essex”.

Commenting on the in-form Sade, Holder went on to say: “Oli has looked sharp in training this week and no defender will want to face possibly the most in form player in Jewish football at the moment. Unfortunately Jake Doffman is still out and we will all be praying for him to return to what he loves most- playing with the ball.”

Having pulled out of the Supplementary Cup, Scrabble now have just three games remaining this season, starting with Redbridge B at home.

This will be the first meeting between the teams this season after RJC withdrew from the first encounter. An away win would see the east Londoners draw level on points, with two games in hand.

Consistency has been an issue for both sets of players but Scrabble’s defensive shortcomings could be an incentive for RJC to attack, attack, attack.

Daniel Holder has described Sunday’s visit to Catford a must-win as leaders Bayern look to maintain their slender advantage.

Alon Pinhas and Holder know their Bayern team is there to be shot at, and with title rivals Mill Hill Dons and Fairlop FC breathing down their necks, a slip-up on Sunday could be catastrophic.

Holder told JC Sport: “Make no mistake about it, three points is a must on Sunday if we are serious about winning the league.

“While Catford may be below us in the league, they are a very strong side having beaten Dons in the league, taken points off Fairlop as well as beating a very strong HMH side in the cup.”

The Bayern boys have had a fortnight to recover from the war of attrition against FC Team and Holder told me it’s crucial his players turn up with the right attitude.

“My main goal of the team talk will be to ensure the lads have no complacency,” he said. “Our last outing saw us drop two points against FC Team so we can’t afford any more slip-ups. Despite the draw, we go into the game on good form with five wins on the spin after Chanukah.

Catford put up a solid performance against cup giant-killers Fairlop FC last weekend. They often produce their Sunday best against the teams at the top and boss Jeff Gotch is determined to pull a big result out of the bag.

Ahead of kick-off, Gotch told JC Sport: “We currently only have 11 players available, with new signing Anthony Chern making his debut and my good mate Jerome Colmans playing his one customary game a season.

“I have 13 players not available but as I’ve always said, I would do everything I can not to postpone a game.”

I expect the visitors to have a strong bench available and that could ultimately be the difference.

JC team news: Bayern welcome back Josh Levy and Rafi Terespolsky to the side, while captain Jake return is slowly approaching full fitness. The in-form Gav Nussbaum misses out, along with Nicky Cooper, Adam Herszaft and Matan Ozin. Adam Biton completes the second of his three-match ban.

FC TEAM vs FAITHFOLD B

FC Team remain firmly in the promotion mix, even though Fairlop are hot on their heels.

Having crushed Faithfold 8-1 in November, Mitch Young’s men will be confident of rolling them over a second time. Indeed Richard Salmon and Young will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of filling their boots against a team with the worst defensive record in the league.

That said, Faithfold sealed their second win of the season last weekend. L’Equipe old boys Nick Stern and Jon Kay clinched a 2-1 win over Temple Fortune in a game where David Garson, Naftali Dove, David Singer, Josh Martin produced eye-catching performances.

But I can see Faithfold struggling with FC Team’s direct approach. Added to that, gaffer Garson told JC Sport: "We are streaming our A-team game live and the Palwins is on ice, so it may be difficult to focus."

Defending second balls will be key but this is a game Young has marked down as one in which he can boost his chances of winning the Golden Boot.

MILL HILL DONS vs NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C

The Dons had a free week after the groundsman forgot to put up the goals last Sunday - you just couldn't make it up. The 'you only had one job' scenario springs to mind.

Brandon Hamme's men will be looking to get back to business and their title hopes were given a major boost in the run-up to the visit of Raiders when the league awarded them six points following matches in which their opponents withdrew. This means they start the game two points behind table-toppers Bayern Mincha with two games in hand.

5-1 winners over NLR in October, the Dons will be looking to leave L'Orange doubled up. Top-scorer Zach Cohen ran them ragged that day, taking home the matchball after firing a hat-trick.

Hamme told JC Sport, during his midweek press conference, that the correct attitude and application will be key against a capable NLR team.

"After last week's disappointment of yet another game not going ahead, the boys are extremely eager to get back on the pitch. It's been a while since we last played and it's crucial for us to get some game time in ahead of some crucial games in the upcoming weeks.

"We can not be complacent tho and look past this Sunday's opponents North London Raiders. Raiders on their day have shown they are capable of picking up a result and we know this game won't be a walk in the park.

"We caught them off guard last time and were ahead by three goals 10 minutes in. It took them a while to get going but they improved a lot as the game went on, we will be seeking to try and take an early advantage again.

"We got to keep picking up results if we want to keep the pressure on the teams around us, this title chase is marathon not a sprint and we have no interest in tiring out before the finish line."

NLR, who currently have six wins to their name, start the game in seventh place. They've made hard work of beating Faithfold and Hertswood 3-2 in their last two outings, so manager Sam Rose will be eyeing a big improvement here.

Anything less and they will come out second best again.

The team was rocked this week by the news that they “have accepted in principal an £82m offer for Jason Weldon from New York Red Bulls. TEMPLE FORTUNE B vs HERTSWOOD VALE

After a two-week break since our last game - the 3-1 triumph over the Straw Hat Pirates - Hertswood are "raring to go this week" against a Fortune side that "shouldn't be underestimated," according to joint-manager Jacob Emanuel.

He was quick to point out how Vale were beaten 3-1 in the reverse fixture, describing it as "our worst performance of the season". He told JC Sport: "We just didn't turn up that day and gifted Fortune a well-deserved victory.

"This time around, we're keen to make things right and ensure we walk away from Pinner with three points."

Looking at Vale's run-in, Emanuel went on to say: "With five games of the season remaining, and having already matched and beaten last season's points tally of 16 points, we're keen to go for a maximum 15 points - a total of 34 points which last season which would've been good enough for fourth.

"The sky is the limit and we're keen to pick up as many points as possible starting with Sunday's game."

He ended his press conference on a cautious note and said: "We're aware that the A's don't have a game this weekend, so we'll be wary of a number of the players being involved."

Darren Zitren and Steven Black must have some regrets about the manner of last week's defeat against wooden spoon rivals Faithfold. Things looked good when Jacob Kalms put them ahead but they were left to rue sloppy errors in a 2-1 loss.

Finding the back of the net has been one of the biggest issues for Fortune and identifying a consistent striker has to be the priority over the summer.

When all is said and done, if Vale play to their maximum they will register win no. seven.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C vs CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI

I can sense Jeff Gotch feels let down by certain players this season. Catford went into the season with high hopes, with gaffer Gotch having put together a real solid squad. But they haven’t had the results to show for it of late.

Gotch touched on commitment after last week’s defeat at home to an Adam Ellis-inspired Bayern Mincha. “When we win, we have 25,” he told JC Sport. “When we lose, we have eight and three new players.”

It’s no surprise that Gotch has put contract talks on hold until the end of the season. His loyalty has never been in question. He just wants his players to be as passionate about the Maccabi League as him. He lives and breathes it.

Raiders fell short of the standards set by boss Sam Rose against Mill Hill Dons last weekend. It ended a run of two victories but three points for L’Orange on Sunday would see them leapfrog the Cats.
