Second best for Warner

articlemain

Adam Warner ended the South East Region Open Water Championship series in style, with a second place finish in the Southsea 3K and an overall position of first in the 17-24 years old age group.

The start of the race began with heavy rain, making this a challenging experience for him. The beginning of the race was very tight, as all swimmers were battling the sea weed and strong current to fight for the best position for the rest of the race. After the second lap, the top four including Warner broke away from the rest of the field. He battled hard to hold his position throughout the race, when on the last turn, he over took the second place swimmer at the time producing a powerful kick, to take the silver medal.

Warner said: "I was disappointed to not win the race, but winning the overall age group title, was a huge achievement for me as it was one of my goals."

His final swim of the open water season was in Salford Quay's Quays as part of The Great Salford Swim.
