L’Equipe go into their 10th season full of ambition. “It is a true testament to the founding fathers of this club that we have managed to stick together and keep going,” says player-manager Nick Stern.
With seven new faces boosting the squad, Stern warned: “This is the year we really challenge for silverware.”
Brothers Josh and Hershman, Mark Korn from Oakwood, Max Martin from Lions, Matt Gilbery will add quality, while big things are expected from Elliot Cantor and Australian star Ben Lazar.
Stern said: “There is also talk of some pretty special guest appearances throughout the season but I won’t ruin the surprises yet. We have kept hold of everyone as well so really will be challenging.”
COMPETITIONS ENTERED:
MGBSFL Division Two, Cyril Anekstein Cup and Peter Morrison Trophy
HOPES FOR THE SEASON:
I say it each season but have never meant it more. We want to win the league
PLAYERS IN & OUT:
Multiple new signings have been made but in no particular order. Mark Korn from Oakwood A, Josh and Alex Hershman from SPEC FC, Matt Gilbery makes a triumphant return, Max Martin from Lions, Ben Lazar, Elliot Canter, Arran McMahon, and as importantly we have lost no-one, with both Smith brothers renewing their contract. Grant Bates back for another crack at some silverware and James Bell promising me to be fit all season.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
If and when fit, the Hershman brothers will light up any league. They are a major coup for our club and I couldn’t be happier to have them. I’m also extremely excited to see Mark Korn play. He comes with a great history of success and it can only mean good things for our club. Max Martin is also a very exciting young talent that we can’t wait to unleash on the division. Finally who could forget the Smith brothers both bring class to our team and they both can’t wait for another crack at the league title.
WHAT WILL THE TEAM BRING TO THE LEAGUE THIS SEASON?
Togetherness - you will not find a tighter knit group than one at L’Equipe. We all put our bodies on the line for each other week in week out and even more surprising is that we don’t even argue as a team.
