MGBSFL PREMIER DIVISION
LONDON MACCABI LIONS WHITE 2 OAKWOOD A 3
Oakwood finished an excellent season in third place following a hard-fought 3-2 win over relegated LML White at Rowley Lane.
A deadly double from Carl Peters plus one from Harvey Kaye clinched Oakwood's ninth win of the campaign.
Oaks joint-manager Ric Blank told JC Sport; "I'm told by all who were there that all three long-range strikes were contenders for goal of the season. We were two up and cruising but had a mad five minutes when our keeper Oren Hury went off injured. It was 2-2 soon after but Carl's second world class strike of the day was enough to secure three well deserved points.
"I'm delighted with a top three finish - Al and I targeted top four from the start, and despite having half a dozen games in hand and a full dozen players unavailable each week, we managed to finish ahead of Brady and Redbridge.
"Our next challenge is to have a tilt at the title. I just want to place on record my gratitude to the boys for all their efforts in what has been the longest season in the history of mankind. We've had some highs and some lows, coped without big players for months on end, had to pick ourselves up from cruel cup defeats and dealt with all the games in hand with minimal fuss. They've been a credit to themselves - their rewards are just around the corner I promise you.
"I also want to thank the JC once again for their tremendous coverage - it makes the MSFL what it is. See you in September."
