Shahar Peer remains on course to reach the main draw of the Ladies Singles at Wimbledon, but only after a scare in the first round of the qualifiers.
Ranked 120 in the world, Peer lost the opening set against Yuliya Beygelzimer, who is 51 places below her in the WTA rankings, but recovered well to win the second set 6-4.
Beygelzimer proved a gutsy opponent and she held a 4-2 advantage in set three, but Peer of Israel rallied superbly to close the match out 6-4.
Peer must now win two more qualifying matches to progress to the main draw. She will place Romina Oprandi in her next match.
