South Manchester 1st saw their unbeaten home record ended in crushing fashion with a 3-0 defeat to an impressive Lawds.

Lawds came out of the block quickly and were rewarded with two goals before half-time. South had no reply and would have struggled to score with an extra hour added on.

Captain Michael Stratton was forced off injured with what looked like a serious knee injury. This was followed by Tom Cantor pulling up, leaving South to soldier on with nine men.

However, that took nothing away from Lawds - who finished off their impressive performance with a third in the last minute.

Marc Magid's South Manchester 2nd team were the victims of a Shiffman master-class, as the young Liverpool midfielder netted four times in a 5-0 defeat for the black and blue.

Magid said out of his car window upon a swift exit from the uni pitches: "Wednesday can't come quickly enough for both teams. Many of the boys have already set their Sky+ to record Citeh as we look to put right this week's nightmare.

"I am thrilled that Mark Stewart has committed to training as he is a real role-model for the young boys to follow - a role he has really taken on board this year."
