Nimi Schwarzmann saluted his players after Maccabi London Lions under-15’s secured the Watford Friendly League title following a hard-fought draw against Sun Sports.
Having secured promotion the previous weekend, the Lions were looking to turn on the style but they were met by stubborn resistance in a tight and tense first half.
There were very few clear-cut chances and honours were even at the break. With very little between the team, Lions started to play some good football but knew they had to be at their best to keep an attacking Sun Sports at bay.
Early in the second half, Jake Aspis latched on to a poor clearance from a corner from just outside the penalty box to put Maccabi Lions ahead.
Sun Sports equalised with 15 minutes remaining and although pushed Lions hard in the last stages of the game, they were unable to find a winner.
Freddy Nash was named man-of-the-match following a great midfield performance in what was a very gutsy team performance.
MLL boss Nimi Schwarzmann was delighted with the way his squad acquitted themselves. “The boys have worked really hard all season and winning the league title is a fantastic achievement,” he said.
"We have a strong squad work ethic and our coach Steve Grenfell has worked tirelessly with the boys all season.
"It has been a pleasure to manage the squad and I look forward to the boys giving a good account of themselves this coming Sunday in the Challenge Trophy final."
