A first-half strike from man-of-the-match David Herman laid the foundations for the Division One title hopefuls, who sealed the win with additional efforts from Louie Basso and super-sub Oli Grant.

“The boys were superb on a very hot day,” enthused Maccabi boss McGarvery.

“An excellent surface at Wythenshawe FC suited our passing game and it was a good a performance as we’ve had in a very long time.”

“Our midfield of Greg Jacobs Michael Sacks and Basso were excellent. Iif we’d have had that line-up in the Peter Morrison Trophy I’m confident we’d have won the competition.

“But availability has been an issue this season. We were missing Sam Hatton in the final and have dropped silly points in the league.

“Basso’s strike on 60 minutes was the killer goal and deflated Chorlton. And it was great to see Grant score again. He’s a great player to have and does what he does best.”

The Subsidiary Cup was Maccabi's fifth trophy in four season under McGarvery.
